SALEM, Ore. -- As the winter sports season gets underway and the spring sports are rapidly approaching, Willamette University has updated its spectator policies for home athletic events. The following goes into effect on Wednesday, December 1.

Everyone ages 12 and older will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated or show a recent negative PCR test result to enter any of Willamette's indoor or outdoor athletic venues (Sparks Field, Cone Field House, WU Natatorium, John Lewis Field, WU Softball Field, WU Tennis Courts, Charles Bowles Track).

  • For proof of vaccination, a photo of your vaccination card is acceptable, but all information must be visible in the photo. A person is considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least two weeks after receipt of the second dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna) or at least two weeks after receipt of the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

  • The negative PCR test must have been taken within 72 hours of attendance at the athletic event and the test must be a SARS-CoV-2 viral test (nucleic acid amplification test [NAAR], including polymerase chain reaction [PCR], or antigen test). Antibody tests and at-home tests will not be accepted. Test results must be in written documentation (paper or electronic copy) and include the name of the person entering the athletic venue.

  • Because of Willamette University's vaccination requirement for students and staff, members of the Willamette community can show their ID cards for entrance into the venues listed above.

  • Masks must be worn at all times by spectators over the age of 5 unless actively eating or drinking.

We will continue to update these protocols as guidance changes related to COVID-19.

Tickets

Willamette will not be charging admission to any athletic events during the 2021-22 academic year. Seating in all venues will be general admission, with areas clearly marked for visiting teams.

Food

Guests will be allowed to bring their own items, but coolers, alcoholic beverages, and glass containers are prohibited.
