Mike Anderson earned All-America honors as a swimmer at Willamette during the 1976, 1978 and 1979 NAIA National Championships. He was Willamette's first men's swimmer to receive All-America status, recording a total of seven All-America awards. In 1976, Anderson was 12th at the NAIA Championships in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.97 after earning a time of 1:47 in the prelims. Anderson was a 13-time NAIA District 2 champion and a five-time Northwest Conference champion. He coached swimming for almost 40 years, including NCAA Sweet 16 performances at University of Nevada, University of Alabama and University of Hawaii. He coached 12 Olympians, including gold, silver and bronze medalists, in addition to NCAA national champions and many NCAA Division I All-Americans.
