Ian Fulp was a strong wrestler for the Bearcats throughout his Willamette career. As a freshman, he finished third at the NWC meet in the 191-pound weight class even though he weighed nearly 25 pounds less. As a sophomore, Fulp was the NWC Champion at 167 pounds. He won the NWC Championship at 177 pounds during his junior year and placed second at the NAIA District 2 meet. Also as a junior, he was a letter winner in football. He sat out the 1968 wrestling season, but returned in 1969 and won the NWC Championship at 177 pounds, while earning a 14-1 record. He coached wrestling for three years at Kodiak High School in Alaska. He was named the first director of Kodiak Parks and Recreation, a position he held for 39 years. He received the State of Alaska Recreation and Parks Association Professional Award in 1989.
