Nathan Matlock was an All-America thrower and defensive lineman for the Bearcats. In the hammer throw at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships, Matlock finished third in 2005 and was sixth in 2004. He set the Willamette record in the hammer throw at 192’ 5” and in the shot put at 53’ 9.25”. When inducted, he ranked seventh all-time at Willamette in the discus with a throw of 153’ 2”. Matlock won Northwest Conference championships in the shot put as a freshman and a sophomore. In football, Matlock was chosen First Team All-NWC at defensive end all four years and was a 2005 All-America selection. He was NWC Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2003 after finishing third in the NWC in sacks (7.5) and tackles for loss (12.5). He led the NWC in sacks in 2002 with 11.0 (1.10 avg.).
