1982 Men's Soccer

The Willamette men's soccer team earned a 15-4 overall record in 1982, including a 4-1 mark for second place in the Northwest Conference. The Bearcats won the NAIA District 2 Championship with a 2-1 victory over Northwest Nazarene in the title game, before falling to eventual NAIA national champion Simon Fraser in the Regional Championship game. The Bearcats set school records for most wins (15), fewest losses (4), most consecutive wins (11), most consecutive wins or ties (11), most goals in a season (59) and most goals in a game (11). Forward Jeff Johnson, goalkeeper Joe Wells and midfielder John Hitchman were named First Team All-NWC. Johnson, Wells and defender Jim O'Neil were chosen All-NAIA District 2. Head Coach Brad Victor was named NAIA District 2 Coach of the Year. O'Neil was selected team MVP. Johnson led the team in scoring with 45 points.
