SALEM, Ore. -- Leslie Shevlin is in her third year as the Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Willamette University in 2021-22. Shevlin advanced to an administrative role after serving as the Head Coach of Men's and Women's Swimming for nine years. Shevlin currently oversees compliance, student-athlete development, student-athlete success, day-to-day financial operations, and SAAC for the department. She also serves as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for athletics and is the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee, representing athletics on the CAS Equity, Diversity, Inclusion committee as well as the Trans Advocacy committee.

In the fall of 2020, Shevlin was one of 20 senior administrators selected to participate in the NCAA Pathways Program, a year-long leadership development program for senior-level athletics administrators.

"I am very excited to have Leslie join our administrative team and I'm thankful that she has accepted the challenge of this position," Passage said when Shevlin was promoted to her new roles. "Her commitment to Willamette Athletics and our student-athletes has been outstanding during her time as our head coach of men's and women's swimming. I am confident she will be able to take the positive impact she has had on our swim programs and expand it to benefit all of our twenty programs and over 350 student-athletes."

Shevlin, who has guided the Bearcat swimming teams since joining the coaching staff prior to the 2009-10 season, was named Men's Swimming Coach of the Year by the Northwest Conference in 2014. Under Shevlin’s leadership, Bearcat Swimming posted over 30 record-breaking performances.

"I have been very proud to be a coach for the past 15 years, especially the last nine years at Willamette as the head men's and women's swimming coach," Shevlin said as she began her new job in athletic administration. "Working with these student-athletes has been challenging and fulfilling. The swimmers have taught me so much about myself and I know I will take that knowledge with me into my new administrative role."

Prior to leading Bearcat Swimming, Shevlin was an assistant swimming coach at the University of New Mexico for four years and a graduate assistant swimming coach for the men’s and women’s programs at Duquesne University.

A North Carolina native, Shevlin was a swimmer at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. While at UNCW, Shevlin was the Vice President of SAAC and the 2003 student-athlete leadership award winner. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from UNCW and a Master of Arts degree in Leadership and Management from Duquesne in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
