SALEM, ORE. -- The Northwest Conference baseball doubleheader between Willamette University and George Fox University set for Sunday, March 15 has been canceled due to extensive rainfall and the high probability of continued rain throughout the day. The Bearcats and the Bruins planned to finish Saturday's game that was suspended after three innings and also hoped to play one 7-inning game on Sunday.
No makeup date has been chosen for the suspended game or the two 7-inning games that would complete the four-game NWC series. George Fox won the first game 14-10 on Friday, March 13. Willamette and GFU were tied 3-3 when the second game was suspended on Saturday.
The WU and GFU coaches plan to evaluate the weather conditions and other factors on Monday before setting a date or dates to continue the series.
