Baseball Series Between Bearcats and Pirates is Postponed

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University's baseball doubleheader with Whitworth University on Saturday, March 28 was in the third inning of the first game when rain postponed play at John Lewis Field in Salem, Ore. Whitworth was leading 5-2 with two outs in the top of the third when play was suspended.

The Bearcats and the Pirates will attempt to play the remainder of the first game, plus the second game and third game of the series on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. (PDT).

Each team hit one home run on Saturday. Michael Rierson (Jr., CF, Salem, OR/Sprague HS) blasted a two-run homer for Willamette in the bottom of the second inning to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead. Luis Tovar of Whitworth smacked a three-run homer in the top of the third inning.
