SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University senior first baseman Kyle Stalker (Bellevue, WA/Sammamish HS) has been named First Team All-Northwest Conference in baseball for the second consecutive season. Stalker was one of five Bearcats selected for All-NWC recognition, with Jack McGee (Sr., RHP/3B, Hillsborough, CA./St. Ignatius HS) on the Second Team and five WU players receiving Honorable Mention.

McGee was named to the Second Team as a utility player. He saw action at multiple positions during the year, playing mostly pitcher and third base, but also contributing at first base and in the outfield.

Willamette's Honorable Mention picks were senior second baseman Ellis Webster (Carlsbad, CA/San Dieguito Academy), senior third baseman David Tufo (San Bruno, CA/Burlingame HS), sophomore shortstop Doug Bloom (Salem, OR/South Salem HS), sophomore left fielder T.C. Lee (Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS) and senior pitcher Colin Clark (RHP/OF, Tigard, OR/Tigard HS).

The Bearcats concluded the season with a 21-17 overall record, including 18-13 (4th place) in the Northwest Conference. Willamette went 16-6 over the final 22 games. The 'Cats earned a .313 team batting average, while hitting 53 home runs and scoring 7.39 runs per game. WU ranked sixth in NCAA Division III in home runs per game (1.39 avg.).

First Team All-NWC

Kyle Stalker (Sr., 1B) led the Northwest Conference with a .455 batting average (45 of 99), 15 home runs and a .960 slugging percentage. He ranked #2 in NCAA Division III in slugging percentage and was #3 in home runs per game (0.45). He led Willamette with 52 RBIs, 26 walks and a .556 on-base percentage. He scored 33 runs and earned five sacrifice flies.

He played exceptionally well on defense, where he recorded 191 putouts and 16 assists with just two errors at first base. He achieved a .990 fielding percentage.

Stalker's batting average tied a Willamette single season record. He matched the top average of .455 set by Bob Gedrose in 1979 and by Norm Hardy in 1981. Stalker's 15 home runs ranked second on WU's all-time list, trailing only his own school record of 22 set in 2008.

This spring, Stalker was chosen NWC Student-Athlete Player of the Week twice, on April 6 and April 13. He contributed two or more hits 13 times during the season. He earned at least two RBIs 13 times, including seven RBIs in a game against Whitman College on April 5.

In four seasons at Willamette, Stalker achieved a .339 career batting average (150 of 443). He set WU career records with 51 home runs and 161 RBIs. He also finished his career with a .722 slugging percentage and a .990 fielding percentage. He played in 126 games with 122 starts. He walked 74 times, including 53 times during the past two years. On defense, he registered 555 putouts, 38 assists and six errors at Willamette.

Last year, Stalker was named First Team All-West Region and Third Team All-America by the America Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). He led NCAA Division III in home runs per game (0.56) and was second in RBIs per game (1.62) in 2008. He was selected as the NWC Player of the Year.

Second Team All-NWC

Jack McGee (Sr., RHP/3B) topped the Bearcats with 50 hits and ranked second on the Willamette roster with a .413 batting average (50 of 121). He tied for eighth on WU's all-time single season list with 38 runs scored and tied for seventh with 14 doubles. He achieved a solid .653 slugging percentage and a .479 on-base percentage.

As a pitcher, McGee finished the year with a 3-0 record and four saves, to go with a 3.05 earned run average. He made 11 appearances, mostly as WU's closer, and struck out 11 batters in 20 2/3 innings pitched. He was named NWC Student-Athlete Pitcher of the Week on April 27.

McGee completed his four seasons with quality career numbers. He earned a .331 career batting average with 55 runs and 43 RBIs. He belted 19 doubles and six homers as a Bearcat. He walked 33 times on his way to a .408 career on-base percentage. He was successful on 8 of 9 stolen base attempts, including 5 for 5 in 2009. He made 118 putouts and 104 assists during his career.

He tied for third all-time at Willamette with eight career saves. He built a 4-1 pitching record and registered a 3.52 career ERA in 21 appearances covering a total of 30 2/3 innings.

Honorable Mention All-NWC

Ellis Webster (Sr., 2B) earned a career-best .280 batting average this season (30 of 107) and scored 20 runs for the Bearcats. He had a .364 on-base percentage and walked 13 times. On defense, he made 81 putouts and 72 assists, while helping turn 18 of Willamette's 32 double plays. He ended the year with a .975 fielding percentage, after making several stellar plays at second base and committing just four errors.

Webster played in 118 games with 106 starts the past four years. He scored 69 career runs, belted a total of 17 doubles and walked 43 times. He tied for fourth all-time at Willamette with 19 career sacrifices (4 flies, 15 bunts) on offense. He provided the 'Cats with 221 putouts and ranked sixth all-time at WU with 283 assists. He registered a .973 career fielding percentage.

David Tufo (Sr., 3B) played in 36 games this spring, including 33 starts. He scored 23 runs, hit three doubles and pounded out two home runs. Tufo hit .295 when batting with two outs (13 of 44) and hit .500 (3 of 6) with a runner at third base and less than two outs in the inning. He earned 64 assists on defense.

During his career, Tufo earned 102 hits with 15 doubles and five home runs. He scored 76 times and produced 49 RBIs. He received 42 walks over the past four seasons and was 13 of 17 on stolen bases. Tufo finished seventh on WU's all-time list with 18 career sacrifices (2 flies, 16 bunts) on offense. He also recorded 78 putouts and 168 assists on defense. He played in 126 games and had 109 starts.

Doug Bloom (So., SS) batted .290 this season (42 of 145). He played in all 38 games with 37 starts. He scored 36 runs and earned 23 RBIs. He smacked 10 doubles and blasted three homers. He was 9 of 12 on stolen bases. His exceptional defensive play allowed him to record 122 assists for the fifth highest single season total in Willamette history. He also earned 60 putouts and was involved in turning 23 double plays .

It was Bloom's second time on the All-NWC squad. He was named First Team All-NWC as a freshman. He has played in 77 games, including 75 starts.

Bloom's career batting average is .311 and he has earned 89 hits, 17 doubles and four homers at a Bearcat. In two seasons, he has scored 75 runs and recorded 49 RBIs. He has a .411 career on-base percentage and is 25 of 32 on stolen bases. He has supplied 118 putouts and 233 assists at shortstop.

T.C. Lee (So., LF) achieved a .347 batting average (41 of 118) this spring. He connected for nine doubles and nine homers. He drove in 27 runs and scored 22 times. He had a .669 slugging percentage, hit .390 with two outs (16 of 41) and batted .500 (3 of 6) with the bases loaded. Lee registered 56 putouts and two assists in left field.

In his two years at WU, he has played in 74 games with 70 starts. He owns a .333 career batting average to go with 90 hits, 55 runs and 61 RBIs. He has hit 15 doubles and ranks third on Willamette's all-time list with 19 home runs. In the outfield, he has accumulated 106 putouts and eight assists.

Lee has been named All-NWC both seasons. He was a Second Team selection as a freshman in 2008.

Colin Clark (Sr., RHP/OF) provided solid all-around efforts as a pitcher and an outfielder this season. He led WU with 15 appearances on the mound and contributed a 3.38 ERA as a relief pitcher, while building a 4-1 record. He threw 26 2/3 innings and held opponents to a .281 batting average.

He also hit .370 (10 of 27) while batting in 13 games. He belted four doubles and three homers for an impressive .852 slugging percentage. On the last day of his WU career, he smacked a home run in both games against Pacific University.

Clark produced a 4.78 ERA during his career with the Bearcats. He accumulated 18 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched.
