Bailey Chosen as NWC Baseball Position Player Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Connor Bailey (Sr., CF, San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch HS) of Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Baseball Position Player Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in three games at University of Puget Sound on Feb. 23-24. Willamette won two of three games, defeating the Loggers in the first game, 13-0, before falling in the second game, 12-2, and winning the third game, 10-5.

Bailey batted .583 (7 of 12) during the week with one double, one triple and two homers. He scored eight runs and recorded six RBIs. He earned a 1.333 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage.

In addition, Bailey walked three times, had no strikeouts and was 3 for 3 on stolen bases. On defense, he contributed seven putouts with no errors.

"Connor had a stellar weekend," Willamette Head Coach Aaron Swick said. "He had great at bats, hit for power, and stole some bases. He has the ability to impact the game in a number of different ways."

Bailey went 3 for 3 with five runs and five RBIs in the first game against the Loggers, as he hit for three-fourths of the cycle with a single, triple and home run. In the second game, he was 2 for 5 with a double. During the final game of the series, he went 2 of 4 with a homer, three runs and an RBI.

For the season, he is hitting .452. He leads the team 14 runs and three homers. He ranks third with seven RBIs.

Willamette will play its first home games of the season this weekend when the Bearcats host Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3. The Bearcats and the Pioneers will battle in two games on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. (PST), and will play one game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
