Bailey Selected to D3baseball.com Team of the Week after Big Series in Tacoma

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior center fielder Connor Bailey (San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch HS) has been named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week after providing power, timely hitting, base-running and defense, as the Bearcats won two of three games against the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, Feb 23 and Sunday, Feb. 24 in Tacoma, Washington. The Bearcats won the first game 13-0. Puget Sound took the second game 12-2. Willamette claimed the series win with a 10-5 triumph in the third game.

Bailey batted .583 (7 of 12) for the week, while pounding out four extra-base hits with a double, a triple and two home runss. He scored eight runs and contributed six RBIs. He earned a 1.333 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage. Bailey's stats line for the week also included three walks, no strikeouts and 3-for-3 success on stolen bases. He registered seven putouts with no errors on defense.

He went 3 for 3 with five runs and five RBIs in the first game, as he hit for three-fourths of the cycle with a single, triple and home run. In the second game against the Loggers, he was 2 for 5 and connected for a double. In the third game, he was 2 of 4 with a homer, three runs scored and one RBI.

For the season, he is second on the team with a stellar .452 batting average, a .871 slugging percentage and a .550 on-base percentage. In addition, he leads the team three homers, 14 runs, eight walks and four stolen bases. He is third with seven RBIs.

Willamette will continue Northwest Conference action this weekend with the team's first three home games. The Bearcats, who are 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the NWC, will take on Lewis & Clark College at John Lewis Field in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 2, starting at 11 a.m. (PST). Willamette will complete the series against the Pioneers with one game on Sunday, March 3 beginning at 12 p.m.
