Sweet Named NWC Defensive Football Player of the Week; Wilbon, Bicocca, Gregoire and Durham Get Honorable Mentions

SALEM, OR Linebacker Phillip Sweet (JR, Albany, OR) has been named the Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his 14-tackle performance in leading the Bearcats to their first win of the season last week against Menlo College.

Teammates Steve Wilbon (3 touchdowns, 84 yards rushing) and Matt Bicocca (1-1 FG, 5-5 PAT) received honorable mention for their offensive and special teams play respectively. Wilbon is a senior running back from Stockton, CA. Bicocca is a sophomore from San Andreas, CA.

Soccer player Michelle Gregoire (JR, Olympia, WA) was also named honorable mention, as was volleyball player Jessica Durham. Gregoire scored one of the Bearcats two goals as they defeated Lewis and Clark in an NWC match at home last Thursday.

Durham (FR, Medford OR), had two solid matches for Willamette as she recorded 27 kills in Bearcat losses to George Fox and Lewis and Clark.
