Swancutt, Anderson and Bernard Speak to Football Campers

SALEM, ORE -- Bill Swancutt of the Detroit Lions, Derek Anderson of the Cleveland Browns and Yvenson Bernard of Oregon State University spoke to youngsters and signed autographs at the Willamette University Youth Football Camp on Wednesday, July 11 at McCulloch Stadium. All three players talked about their football playing experiences and encouraged the young athletes (entering grades 2-8) to focus on academics, to obey their parents and to play other sports as well as football. Swancutt, Anderson and Bernard also answered questions from several of the 200+ youngsters attending the camp.

Swancutt, a 64 270-pound defensive end, is entering his third season with the Lions in the National Football League. Anderson, a 6'6" 229-pound quarterback, also is ready to start his third season in the NFL as a member of the Browns. Bernard, a 5'9" 202-pound running back, will be a senior this fall at Oregon State.

Youngsters attending the Willamette Youth Football Camp have been working on fundamentals to develop skills on offense, defense and special teams. The camp, which is presented by American Family Insurance, will conclude on Thursday, July 12.
