Schoettgen Selected NWC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

Ties WU Record with 29th Career Touchdown Catch

SALEM, ORE. -- Scott Schoettgen (Sr., WR, Columbia, CA/Sonora HS) of Willamette University has been named Northwest Conference Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for games played on Saturday, Oct. 16. Schoettgen helped the Willamette offense amass 494 total yards in a 52-21 victory over the University of Puget Sound.

Schoettgen's contributed eight catches for 159 yards and one touchdown. His 2-yard touchdown catch with 1:16 left in the third quarter was the 29th touchdown reception of his career, moving him into a tie Willamette's all-time record. Schoettgen is tied with Justin Pate, who caught 29 touchdown passes from 1990 through 1993.

Against Puget Sound, Schoettgen also went over the 2,000-yard mark in career receptions. He has caught 110 passes for 2,086 yards in his Willamette career.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 23, when they will host Menlo College. Game time at McCulloch Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. (PDT).
