SALEM, Ore. -- Cameron Coe (Fr., PK, La Puente, CA/Bishop Amat Memorial HS) from the Willamette University football team has been named Northwest Conference Football Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts against California Lutheran University on Saturday, Sept. 19. Willamette put up a fierce rally after trailing 20-0 at halftime, but came up just short in a 27-24 loss to the Kingsmen.

Coe, a freshman in his first collegiate game, kicked a 31-yard field goal and made 3 of 3 extra points for the Bearcats on Saturday. He became the starting place-kicker for Willamette after previous starter Conner Mertens (Jr./So., PK/P, Kennewick, WA/Southridge HS) suffered an injury earlier in the week.

The Bearcats do not play this weekend, but will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3 with a home game against University of Puget Sound. Game time at McCulloch Stadium is scheduled for 4 p.m. (PDT).
