Mulligan is Selected at NWC Football Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Mark Mulligan (Jr., DE, San Francisco, CA/Archbishop Riordan HS) of Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Football Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in the Bearcats' 35-21 road win over Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Portland, Oregon.

Mulligan earned seven unassisted tackles and one assist for eight total tackles against the Pioneers. He contributed 2.0 quarterback sacks for 15 yards lost, and provided 2.0 tackles for losses of 15 yards. He helped Willamette hold the Pioneers to just 2.5 yards per carry on 37 running attempts. The Bearcats limited L&C to just three third-down conversions on 14 attempts.

For the season, Mulligan has registered 30 total tackles, with 20 solo stops and 10 assists. He has forced one fumble, blocked a kick and recovered two fumbles.

The Bearcats are 3-5 on the season, including 2-3 in the NWC. Willamette will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 against Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. Game time at the Pine Bowl is set for 12:30 p.m. (PDT).
