Bailey Wyatt

What was your most memorable moment throughout your career at Willamette?

Driving to Canada to play, and all the food at the Chinese hotel where we stayed

Describe your feelings when you found out the athletic events were canceled for the remainder of the year.

I was pretty shocked. My season was not affected, but I felt bad for those who had their senior season cut short. One of my best friends is on the tennis team and he did not get to finish his last season. I know it has been hard for him.

How have you been handling life in quarantine? Are you home or on campus? What's it like learning online and not being around your teammates?

While I am not back home in Seattle, my roommates and I are still living off-campus in our house in Salem.

What has your experience as a Bearcat taught you?

Being a Bearcat taught me to persevere and fight for the things that are most important to me.

If you could leave one piece of advice for future Bearcats, what would it be?

Athlete or not, If you need help in a class go to office hours and work hands-on with your professor as much as possible.

What are your future plans following graduation?

Currently I am waiting on hearing back from all the grad schools I applied to, so my future plans are still up in the air.

From their teammates

What was your most memorable moment of Bailey?

Dom Torres: When I first met him as a first-year player, he was so kind and wanted to be my friend right off the bat.

Dylan Selph: Watching him and his strength to push through injury and come back fired up to play

How has Bailey impacted you in your sport or in life?

Dom Torres: He was a great person to compete with not only on the field but in the weight room. He was also such a great friend everywhere that we were together

Dylan Selph: Bailey showed me and the rest of the D-line what the Bearcat mentality should be. He's good in school, so that was a good role model for me to follow. Watching his habits improved mine.

What makes Bailey special?

Dom Torres: He is such a nice person and was one of the best teammates I ever had. He is also one of my good friends.

Dylan Selph: His goofy jokes and ability to flip the switch and go to work.

Is there anything Bailey brought to the program that will have a lasting impact?

Dom Torres: He brought a competitiveness in the weight room that goes unmatched for me. He was someone who would teach everyone how to do the lift, then outlift everyone by a ton. He also was a teammate who, even though he was injured, was constantly being positive and really was there to help the team in any way he possibly could. Without him our defensive line would not be half what it is today, and I wouldn't be half the player I am today without him.

Dylan Selph: He showed us how to be a true student-athlete. And I think just by his leadership he instilled those good traits into all of us.
