Jenkins Chosen as NWC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior forward Jordan Jenkins (Placentia, CA/Valencia HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts as the Bearcats took on Corban University on Dec. 6 and played Portland Bible College on Dec. 7. The Bearcats fell to Corban on the Warriors' home court, 76-67, before routing Portland Bible at Cone Field House, 87-54.

Jenkins averaged 20.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game during the week. He also contributed 4.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. He connected on 13 of 21 field goals for 61.9% and made 2 of 4 three-point shots (50.0%). He scored 20 points in each game, and has provided WU with 20 or more points in five of the last six games. Against Portland Bible, he completed his third double-double of the season by grabbing 10 rebounds.

This season, Jenkins has scored in double figures in all eight games. He leads the Bearcats with 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. He is shooting 53.1%, including a solid 40.0% from behind the 3-point arc. He has made 36 of 45 free throws for 80.0%.

In 63 career games played and 54 starts, Jenkins has scored 754 points (12.0 avg.) and hauled down 393 rebounds (6.2 avg.). He has supplied the Bearcats with 148 assists (2.3 avg.) during his career.

The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 20 when they will take on University of California, Santa Cruz at Cone Field House. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. (PST).
