Wilson is Selected as NWC Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week

Earns a Share of First Place at Willamette Cup with Score of 73

SALEM, ORE. -- Clark Wilson (So., Ocean Park, WA/ Ilwaco HS) from Willamette University has been selected as the Northwest Conference Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week after tying for first place at the Willamette Cup on Saturday, Feb. 28. Wilson also contributed to Willamette winning the team championship.

The Willamette Cup was hosted by Pacific University and was held at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Ore.

Wilson shot a 73 to match Linfield College golfer Taylor Klopp for medalist honors. They finished with a one-stroke lead over Steven Rodriguez (Jr., Red Bluff, CA/Mercy HS) of Willamette, who took third place with a 74. Peter Mitzel (So., Red Bluff, CA/Red Bluff HS) of Willamette and Grant Loriaux of Linfield tied for fourth place at 75.

It was the second consecutive season that Wilson has placed high at the Willamette Cup. He took second place in 2014 when the event was held at the Oregon Golf Association Golf Course in Woodburn, Ore. His score a year ago was 74.

The Bearcats won this year's Willamette Cup with a team score of 301. Linfield took second place just three strokes off the pace at 304. Pacific was third at 342.

Willamette's next action is scheduled for the Pioneer Invitational on March 14-15 at Heron Lakes Golf Course in Portland, Ore. The men's competition will take place on the Great Blue Course.
