Second Round of Pioneer Invitational in Men's Golf is Canceled

Wet Course Prevents Play on Sunday; Bearcats Tie for Second

PORTLAND, ORE. -- The second round of the Pioneer Invitational in men's golf was canceled on Sunday, March 15 due to water on the course at the Heron Lakes Golf Club. As a result, the first round results from Saturday now represent the final results. Willamette tied for second place in the team standings.

Whitworth University won the team title with a score of 308. Willamette and Pacific Lutheran University tied for second at 314, while Linfield College was fourth at 320. George Fox University finished fifth at 329, with Pacific University in sixth at 350 and Lewis & Clark College in sixth at 355. L&C hosted the tournament on the Great Blue Course.

Alex Rudnicki from Whitworth won the individual championship with a 3-under-par 69. Ryan Kukula (Sr., Ocean Park, WA/Ilwaco HS) of Willamette took second place with a 73. Mitchell Baldrige of PLU was third at 75, while Andrew Dodge of Whitworth finished fourth at 76.

Earning a tie for the Bearcats in fifth place was Jonathan Ross (Sr., Tukwila, WA/Foster HS) at 77. He was tied for fifth with Thomas Huddleston from Pacific Lutheran.

Willamette's next competition is scheduled for Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24 at the West Cup in Beaumont, Calif. The West Cup, which features several of the top teams in NCAA Division III each season, will be held at Tukwet Canyon.
