SALEM, ORE. -- Thanks to a career-low six-under-par 64 in the second and final round that secured medalist honors at the Pacific Fall Opener, Ryan Kukula (Sr., Ocean Park, WA/Ilwaco HS) was named Northwest Conference Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week according to an announcement Tuesday by the conference office.

"What a great weekend and a great finishing day for Ryan," said Head Coach Patrick Daugherty. "Probably playing his last time at Quail Valley as a senior, I could not be more happy for him as it is a great way to close out his career at that particular course."

Kukula carded a 36-hole score of five-under-par 135 (71-64) to win by eight strokes over the 42-player field. The senior also finished as the only player under par for the weekend on the 6,302 yard, par 70 course.

Heading into the second and final round, Kukula was one stroke behind a pair of first round leaders. Over the tournament's final 18 holes, Kukula was the only player to break par en route to picking up his sixth win in the past three seasons.

Kukula helped lead Willamette University's men's golf team to a second place finish, as the Bearcats now turn their focus toward the Culturame Classic hosted by George Fox University on Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 11 & 12.

The two-day tournament will be played at The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club in Aloha, Oregon. The players will tee off beginning at 11 a.m. (PST) on Saturday and 10 a.m. (PST) on Sunday.

Thanks to a career-low 64 in the second round of the Pacific Fall Opener, Ryan Kukula was named NWC Student-Athlete of the Week.
