Davis is Selected as NWC Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University golfer Austin Davis (So., Culver City, CA/Culver City HS) has been named NWC Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Bulldog Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22 at The S Course in Rancho Mirage, California. Davis tied for second place in the tournament with a 54-hole score of 211 after shooting 73 in the first round and adding back-to-back 69s in the second round and third round. His success helped Willamette place third in the team standings with a score of 872, including a 7-under-par 281 in the third round.

Davis finished the weekend just two strokes out of first place, which went to Jake Hollander from University of Redlands, who shot 209 with rounds of 69, 72 and 68. Davis tied for second with Titus Goodman of Vanguard University (Cailf.), who also shot 211 (71-71-69).

The successful weekend for Davis included an eagle-3 on the par-5 seventh hole in the second round. He had just one bogey in the second round and only one bogey in the third round. In addition to the eagle, he earned nine birdies during the tournament.

Willamette will compete again on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6 at the George Fox Invitational. The tournament will be held at Gearhart Golf Course in Gearhart, Oregon.
