Galbreath Chosen NWC Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

Helps Willamette Shut Out Rivals from Linfield

SALEM, ORE. -- Defender Etienne Galbreath (Jr., Portland, OR/Grant HS) on the Willamette University men's soccer team has been named Northwest Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for contributions in the Bearcats' 3-0 win over Linfield College on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Galbreath helped the Willamette defense earn its second shutout of the season with the blanking of the archrival Wildcats. He also assisted on Willamette's first goal on a free kick from 55 yards away that was redirected into the net by teammate Erik Kaufman (Jr., F, Portland, OR/Grant HS).

So far this season, Galbreath has started nine games and ranks fifth on the team in minutes played. Despite playing primarily on defense, he has achieved six shots, including three shots on goal. He has played in 45 games with 36 starts in his Willamette career.

The game with Linfield was Willamette's only competition last week. The Bearcats are 4-5-1 overall and 3-4-0 in the NWC. Willamette will play at George Fox University on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 12 p.m. (PDT). The Bearcats will take on Pacific University in another road game on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2:30 p.m. (PDT).

Etienne Galbreath helped Willamette shutout rival Linfield, 3-0. He also earned an assist.
