Kelliher is Chosen NWC Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior goalkeeper Mason Kelliher (Wellington, N.Z./Wellington College) has been named Northwest Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts against archrival Linfield College on Saturday, Oct. 12. The Bearcats defeated Linfield, 2-1, after Josh Schneider (So., F, Washoughal, WA/Camas HS) scored the winning goal with 17 seconds left in regulation.

Kelliher played the full 90 minutes and registered five saves -- all in the second half. He also provided strong play in the 18-yard box.

This season, Kelliher has earned a 0.82 goals against average and 26 saves in 1,098 minutes played. He has recorded five complete-game shutouts and one shared shutout. His goals against average ranks third in the NWC. He owns a 6-2-3 record.

During Kelliher's career with the Bearcats, he has attained a 17-5-5 record and a 0.79 goals against average in 2,500 minutes played. He has provided Willamette with 91 career saves, while earning 10 solo shutouts and two shared shutouts.

The Bearcats are 7-2-3 on the season and 4-2-1 (3rd place tie) in the NWC. Willamette will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 in a home game against Pacific Lutheran University. Game time is set for 12 p.m. (PDT) at Sparks Field.
