Perle-Jones and Fisher Reach Doubles Consolation Semis at ITA Regional

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Willamette University men's tennis players Gene Perle-Jones (Jr., Eugene, OR/North Eugene HS) and Colin Fisher (Jr., Caldwell, ID/Thomas Jefferson Charter School) reached the doubles consolation semifinals at the ITA Northwest Regional during action at the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 23.

Perle-Jones and Fisher, who lost in the first round of the main doubles draw on Friday, picked up a close win in the first round of the consolation doubles bracket on Saturday. The Willamette duo outlasted Aiden Velasco and Ben Colson from the University of Puget Sound in a tie-breaker, 9-8, to advance into the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket.

In the quarterfinals, Perle-Jones and Fisher moved past Derek Simonsen and Jack Fleming of Whitman by default. Rox Rogers and Johan Wafalu of George Fox University defeated Perle-Jones and Fisher, 8-1 in the semifinals.

The Bearcats will close out their fall schedule with dual matches against Pacific University, Linfield College and George Fox University.
