NEWBERG, Ore. -- Men's tennis players Andrew Kabacy (So., Vancouver, WA/Skyview HS) and Quentin Nigbur (Fy., Newberg, OR/Newberg HS) of Willamette University each lost a match in the consolation singles round of 16 at the ITA Northwest Regional on Sunday, Sept. 22. Kabacy fell to Shayne Lynette of Lewis & Clark College, 8-6. Sam Watt of George Fox University downed Nigbur, 8-0.

Many of the consolation matches on Saturday were canceled due to the weather or for other reasons. As a result, Kabacy and Nigbur did not compete in the quarterfinals of the consolation doubles bracket.

Tournament matches at the ITA Northwest Regional are being held at George Fox's indoor and outdoor courts and also at the Laurel Ridge Country Club in Sherwood, Oregon. Although the Bearcats have completed all of their matches, action at the tournament will continue through Monday, Sept. 23. Matches on Monday will include the championship singles final and the championship doubles final. The overall event is sponsored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
