SALEM, Ore. -- Andrew Kabacy (Grad., Vancouver, WA/Skyview HS) of Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, March 19. Kabacy, who competes at #1 singles and #1 doubles for the Bearcats, won both of his matches as Willamette took on East Texas Baptist University on Wednesday, March 15.

Kabacy was victorious at #1 singles against Sam Beck, winning in a super tie-breaker played instead of a third set, 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 10-7. At #1 doubles, Kabacy combined with Velibor Mladenovic (Fy., Belgrade, Serbia/First Belgrade Grammar School) to edge out Jake Gibson and Jacob Daniell of ETBU, 8-7, after securing a 7-3 win in the tie-breaker. Although Kabacy won both of his matches, ETBU won the overall match, 7-2.

The battle with ETBU was Willamette's only competition during the week. The Bearcats will return to action on Monday, March 27 at 11 a.m. (PDT) when they host Colorado College. The match will be played at the WU Tennis Courts if possible or indoors the Salem Tennis and Swim Club if required due to the weather.
