SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University's doubleheader at Pacific University, originally scheduled for March 1, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 23 at 5 p.m. (PDT) in Forest Grove, Ore. The doubleheader was initially set to open Pacific's new Sherman/Larkins Stadium, but construction not yet completed, so the teams were going to play on March 1 at Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore.

Rain prevented the teams from playing the doubleheader. WU and the Boxers did play twice, however, on March 2 in McMinnville. Pacific won a pair of one-run games, taking the opener 2-1 and edging the Bearcats in the nightcap, 7-6 in nine innings.

The rescheduled doubleheader could be significant in the Northwest Conference final standings. Through games on April 9, Linfield was leading the NWC at 15-1, with Pacific in second place at 12-2 and Willamette holding third place at 10-2. For the season, Pacific was 23-3 and Willamette was 16-4.

Willamette University is battling Linfield College and Pacific University for the NWC title.
