TACOMA, WASH. -- Willamette University and Pacific Lutheran University were forced to cancel their Northwest Conference softball doubleheader in Tacoma, Wash., on Saturday, March 31 due to the weather. The Bearcats and PLU were set to meet in a key NWC match-up, with the Lutes at 14-2 and tied for first in the NWC and the Bearcats at 12-4 and in sole possession of third place in the conference standings.

Instead, the games will have to wait until later in the season. No make-up date has been chosen, but it is hoped that the games will be rescheduled. PLU has an overall record of 24-8, while Willamette is 13-8 on the season.

Earlier this year, Pacific Lutheran won two games against the Bearcats. The Lutes were victorious 4-3 and 7-3 in a doubleheader in Salem, Ore., on March 10.

Willamette is scheduled to play a doubleheader at the University of Puget Sound on Sunday, April 1. First pitch in Tacoma is set for 12 p.m. (PDT).

Mica Romero has pounded out three doubles and two homers in Northwest Conference play this season.
