Willamette versus Whitworth Doubleheader Rescheduled for April 16

Bearcats Will Travel to Spokane for Tuesday Doubleheader

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University and Whitworth University have scheduled a makeup date for their Northwest Conference doubleheader originally scheduled for Sunday, April 7, but canceled due to weather conditions.

Instead, the Bearcats will travel back to Spokane for a pair of games on Tuesday, April 16. First pitch of game one is slated for 12 p.m. (PDT), with the second game starting at approximately 2 p.m.

The teams split a doubleheader on Saturday, April 6.

In the opener, Willamette broke broke a tie score with two runs in the top of the seventh for a 5-3 win. Ashley Pender (Fr., 2B, Reno, NV/North Valley HS) and Kelli Snyder (Sr., C, Longview, WA/Kelso HS) each hit an RBI double. In the second game, Whitworth notched a 5-4 victory.

Both teams are in contention for a place in the NWC tournament. Willamette is 13-17 on the season, including 9-11 in the Northwest Conference. Whitworth is 19-15 overall, 13-9 in the NWC.

The Bearcats next take the field in a doubleheader at NWC-leading Linfield College on Wednesday, April 10. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
