Softball Doubleheader at Pacific Lutheran is Canceled by Rain

PARKLAND, WASH. -- The scheduled doubleheader in softball between Willamette University and Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday, March 15 has been canceled due to the weather and wet grounds. Willamette and Pacific Lutheran were set to play two Northwest Conference game at PLU Field. No makeup date has been determined.

Willamette opened its weekend in the Tacoma area by sweeping a doubleheader at University of Puget Sound on Saturday. The Bearcats won the first game, 13-7 in nine innings after scoring six runs in the top of the ninth. WU took the second game 15-0 on the run rule in five innings. The Bearcats are 3-14 on the season, 3-7 in the NWC.

Kayla Rieger (Sr., OF, Anacortes, WA/Anacortes HS/Adelphi Univ.) and Heather Winslow (Sr., 1B, Oregon City, OR/Oregon City HS) each smacked a home run during Saturday's second game.

Willamette does not play next weekend or during the week of Spring Break. Up next for the Bearcats is a doubleheader against George Fox University on Saturday, March 28 at the WU Softball Field.

Ashley Pender went 5 for 10 with six RBIs against Puget Sound on Saturday. For the season, she is batting .318 (14 of 44).
