Willamette and Linfield to Play Doubleheader in Softball on Wednesday, April 5

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University and Linfield College will play a Northwest Conference softball doubleheader on Wednesday, April 5 to make up a doubleheader that was rained out on March 4. First pitch at WU Softball Field is set for 2 p.m. (PDT). The second doubleheader between the Bearcats and the Wildcats that was rained out in March has not yet been rescheduled.

The Bearcats are 11-11 on the season and 9-7 in the NWC. Linfield, ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll released on March 29 by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), is 22-6 overall, 11-5 in the NWC.

Mallory Asaro (Sr., SS, Rocklin, CA/Rocklin HS) leads the Bearcats with a .459 batting average. She also ranks first on the team with a .797 slugging percentage, a .512 on-base percentage, 20 RBIs and nine doubles. Asaro is tied with Steffany Dunn (Sr., RF, Colfax, CA/Colfax HS) for the team lead with four home runs.

Jocelyn Glasgo (Fr., P/OF, Rochester, WA/Tumwater HS) is batting .414 for the Bearcats with a .655 slugging percentage. Alex Shields (Sr., C, Lake Forest, CA/El Toro HS) is hitting .386 and Darian Gibson (So., LF, Newport Beach, CA/Calvary HS)  is hitting .359.

The Willamette pitching staff is led by Jade Smith (Sr., P, Chico, CA/Chico HS) with a 7-5 record and a 3.54 earned run average. Reanna Lancaster (So., P, Los Altos, CA/Mountain View HS), pitching mostly in relief, owns a 1.75 ERA and a 1-1 record.
