Cosler is Chosen as NWC Softball Position Player Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University's Cassie Cosler (Fr., 1B, Albany, OR/West Albany HS) has been selected as the Northwest Conference Softball Position Player Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts against Williams College (Mass.) on Saturday, March 23 and Occidental College on Sunday, March 24.

For the weekend, Cosler hit .429 (3 of 7) with two doubles, two walks, three RBIs and a stolen base, while playing in three of the four games. She provided the game-winning hit in Willamette's 9-6 victory over Occidental when she broke a 4-4 tie with a two-run single in the sixth inning. Cosler earned a .714 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage during the week.

Cosler is batting .333 for the season with three doubles. She has competed in 17 games with 16 starts, and has recorded a team-high 118 putouts and three assists at first base.

Willamette is playing at University of Redlands (Calif.) today before returning to Oregon to host Linfield College this weekend at the WU Softball Field. The Bearcats and Wildcats will play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 30 and another twinbill on Sunday, March 31. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. (PDT) each day.
