WU Softball at L&C is Halted in 5th Inning; Teams Plan to Resume on Sunday

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The first game of a softball doubleheader between Willamette University and Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, April 16 was suspended due to the weather with the Bearcats leading 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning at the Huston Sports Complex. The Bearcats and the Pioneers plan to resume the game on Sunday, April 17 at 11 a.m. (PDT) if possible.

Lewis & Clark built a 3-0 lead with two runs in the second inning and one run in the third inning. Willamette scored one run in the fourth and took the lead in the top of the fifth. At the start of the fifth inning, the Bearcats plated three runs on four hits and one error to move in front. Willamette had runners at first and third with no outs when play was suspended.

The teams hope to finish the game on Sunday. Following a short break, they plan to play the second game of the doubleheader. Lewis & Clark leads the overall series, 2-0, after winning 7-5 and 10-3 in Salem, Oregon, on Friday, April 15.

Willamette's two games at Lewis & Clark will conclude the season for the Bearcats.
