Temotio is Hired as Assistant Swimming Coach at Willamette

SALEM, ORE. -- Ailton "Junior" Temotio has been hired as the assistant coach for the Willamette swimming teams in 2014-15. He is a native of Fortaleza, Brazil. He most recently has been a full-time age group coach for the West Houston Aquatic Team in Texas. He also has served as a summer league head coach, swim clinic director and swim lesson instructor.

In addition to coaching at Willamette, he is the head assistant coach for the Bearcat Swim Club. He is an ASCA Level 2 certified coach.

Temotio earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Marketing from East Carolina University in 2012. He also was a swimmer at East Carolina for four seasons. He is a record holder at ECU in four relay events. He is listed in the Top 10 all-time at ECU in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly.

He came to the United States when he was 16 years old. He competed for the McMinville Swim Club in Oregon while completing his high school education. He qualified for national and junior national competition and was a medalist at the 2007 Speedo Sectionals.

"I'm very excited to welcome Coach Temotio to Willamette University and Bearcat swimming," Head Coach Leslie Shevlin said. "He will bring to the pool knowledge about swimmer development and a passion for creating fast swimmers.

"I also believe that his diverse background will enhance our mission to create productive and successful student-athletes outside the water. I am looking forward to ideas he can bring to our sprint program on deck and to our recruiting efforts behind the scenes."
