Lin Chosen as NWC Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Kiley Lin (Fr., Palo Alto, CA/Henry M. Gunn HS) of Willamette University has been named the Northwest Conference Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts as the Bearcats took on Oregon State University and Southwestern Oregon Community College on Saturday, Jan. 16 in Corvallis, Ore.

In the women's competition, OSU, WU and SWOCC competed together in each event, with the double-dual team scoring determined by time.  Oregon State's women, which compete in NCAA Division I, defeated Willamette, 138-78, while the Bearcat women's team downed Southwestern Oregon, 166-53.

The Beavers competed exhibition in the final few events after OSU built solid leads on the Bearcats and Southwestern Oregon. Willamette went on to won the final three women's events.

Lin won the 50-yard butterfly in 28.18 seconds and helped Willamette win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:45.64. Lin swam the opening leg of the 200 free relay.

Earlier in the meet, while OSU was competing for team scores, Lin placed 2nd in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.67 and was 4th in the 50-yard backstroke in 28.82 seconds. In the 50 back, she was just 0.12 out of third place.

The Bearcats will return to Northwest Conference dual meet action this weekend against Pacific University and Lewis & Clark College. Willamette will host the Boxers on Friday, Jan. 22 at the WU Natatorium starting at 6 p.m. (PST). The Bearcats will travel to Portland, Oregon, to take on L&C on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m.
