Tallman Chosen NWC Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Cassie Tallman (Jr., Seattle, WA/Roosevelt HS) of Willamette University has been named Northwest Conference Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts as the Bearcats took on College of Idaho and Southwestern Oregon Community College in a double dual on Friday, Jan. 13. Tallman won two individual events, while helping the Bearcats earn second place in one relay event and third place in a second relay.

Tallman took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.16. She won the event by 2.98 seconds. She also placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:34.11, as she finished 6.33 seconds in front of the field.

In addition, Tallman contributed to Willamette claiming second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:46.19 and taking third place in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:59.50. She swam the anchor leg on the freestyle relay and completed the third leg on the medley relay.

Tallman and the rest of the Bearcats will return to action on Friday, Jan. 20 in a dual meet against Lewis & Clark College at the WU Natatorium. Meet time is set for 6 p.m. (PST).
