SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University men's and women's swimming Head Coach Leslie Shevlin has announced the Bearcats' recruiting class for the 2018-19 season. The class includes five women's swimmers and three men's swimmers. Three of the swimmers are from the State of Washington, with two swimmers from California, and one each from Oregon, Colorado and Nevada.

"Willamette Swimming is excited to have these eight new student-athletes joining the program next season. I appreciate Coach (Brent) Summers and his efforts to help bring in swimmers who will bring more athleticism and depth to the team. Every single one of them has the potential to grow over the next four years and it will be exciting to witness," Shevlin said.

Joining the Willamette women's team are Anna Jones from Silverdale, Washington; Maddie Khoury from Northridge, California; Surya Lee from Bainbridge Island, Washington; Corinne Pierson form Port Townsend, Washington; and Min Wei from nearby Aumsville, Oregon. New Bearcats on the men's team are Keaton Adams from Colorado Springs, Colorado; Robbie Daugherty from Reno, Nevada; and Greg Wells from Roseville, California.

Women's Swimming

Here is the Willamette women's swimming recruiting class for the 2018-19 season:

Anna Jones Anna Jones (Fr., Silverdale, WA/North Kitsap HS) will be a freestyle swimmer for the Bearcats.

Coach Shevlin on Anna:

"With the loss of eight upperclassmen, Anna will be able to bring much needed depth to our freestyle events. Anna is able to swim the 50-yard freestyle to the 500-yard freestyle in dual meet competition. She will be a great addition to all of our freestyle training groups."

Maddie Khoury Maddie Khoury (Fr., Northridge, CA/Chaminade College Prep) will compete in freestyle events at Willamette

Coach Shevlin on Maddie:

"Maddie is a strong and passionate young woman. We are excited to have her on our deck every day. Maddie will contribute in a few different freestyle events and will help the entire women's team due to her ability to train hard. Maddie is excited about everything Willamette has to offer. I know she will bring positive energy to our team."

Surya Lee Surya Lee (Fr., Bainbridge Island, WA/Bainbridge HS) is a freestyle swimmer who may also swim butterfly and backstroke events for the Bearcats.

Coach Shevlin on Surya:

"Surya is another freshmen woman bringing depth to our freestyle groups. We will look to develop Surya in the butterfly and the backstroke. In addition to those strokes, she will bring depth in dual meets to the freestyle events."

Corinne Pierson Corinne Pierson (Fr., Port Townsend, WA/Port Townsend HS) will arrive at Willamette as a butterfly and backstroke swimmer.

Coach Shevlin on Corinne:

"Corinne will bring depth in our butterfly and backstroke events. With the women we had in our graduating class, Corinne will be able to make an immediate impact on our program. She is also a wonderful person who will bring a smile to our deck every day."

Min Wei Min Wei (Fr., Aumsville, OR/Cascade HS) will compete in butterfly and breaststroke events for the Bearcats after arriving from nearby Cascade High School in Aumsville.

Coach Shevlin on Min:

"It is always exciting for us to have a local student-athlete join our Bearcat family. We are extremely excited to have Min with us next season. Min will swim primarily butterfly and breaststroke for the Bearcats. She finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly at the OSAA 4A-1A Championships in February."

Men's Swimming

Coach Shevlin on Keaton:

His athleticism and three-sport background in high school make him an asset to both of our programs. Keaton will primarily swim sprint freestyle for our team at the conclusion of the football season."

Robbie Daugherty Robbie Daugherty (Fr., Reno, NV/Damonte Ranch HS) will compete in freestyle and backstroke events at Willamette.

Coach Shevlin on Robbie:

"We are very excited to welcome Robbie to Bearcat Swimming. Robbie has the ability to swim middle to distance freestyle as well as backstroke for the Bearcats."

Greg Wells Greg Wells (Fr., Roseville, CA/Woodcreek HS) will participate in sprint freestyle events for the Bearcats.

These are two qualities we were looking for during our recruiting process this past year, so we are happy to have Greg as a part of our Bearcat family."
