Lehndorff Wins Shot Put, Turpen Takes First in Hammer Throw, at Cougar Open

OREGON CITY, Ore. -- Hans Lehndorff (Sr., Boulder, CO/Boulder HS) won the men's shot put and Angie Turpen (Jr., Alsea, OR/Alsea HS) won the women's hammer throw at the Cougar Open, hosted by Clackamas Community College on Saturday, April 16 at Pioneer Stadium.

Lehndorff earned a top distance of 49' 10.5" in the shot put. His mark was just 1.25 inches away from his career-best throw of 49' 11.75" at the John Knight Twilight on April 8. He won Saturday's competition by just under three and half feet.

Turpen prevailed in the hammer throw with a top mark of 142' 7". Vanessa Guerrero from Warner Pacific College placed second at 131' 9".

In the men's discus throw, Lehndorff took third place. His longest throw covered 146' 6". In the women's discus throw, Turpen finished sixth. She registered a top distance of 114' 2".

The Bearcats will compete at the 2016 Northwest Conference Track and Field Championshps next weekend. Lewis & Clark College will host the meet on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23.
