Lehndorff Competes in Shot Put and Discus at Whitworth Final Qualifying Meet

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Willamette University track and field athlete Hans Lehndorff (Sr., Boulder, CO/Boulder HS) participated in the shot put and the discus throw at the Whitworth NCAA Final Qualifying Meet on Thursday, May 19. The meet was held at the Pine Bowl on the Whitworth University campus.

Lehndorff placed second in the shot put with a toss of 49' 2.50". He trailed only Corey Burt from Whitworth, who won the event with a distance of 58' 3.25" for the top mark in NCAA Division III this season. 

In the discus, Lehndorff took third place with a top throw of 142' 8". Former Whitworth athlete Carter Comito won the discus at 178' 1", while Burt finished second at 162' 3".

Earlier this season, Lehndorff set personal records in both events at the 2016 Northwest Conference Championships. He registered a mark of 158' 2" to win his second NWC discus title while moving into third place on Willamette's all-time list. It was the best discus throw by a Bearcat athlete since 1963. Lehndorff also won an NWC championship in the discus in 2014.

Lehndorff earned a career-best distance of 52' 5.25" in the shot put to take second place at the NWC Championships. His throw is listed fifth all-time at Willamette.

On the NCAA Division III performance list for 2016, Lehndorff is ranked 24th in the discus. He is 31st in the shot put.
