SEATTLE, Wash. -- Willamette University achieved a nationally-ranked time in NCAA Division III indoor track and field in the women's distance medley relay during the Husky Classic, hosted by the University of Washingon on Friday, Feb. 10. The Bearcats completed the race in 12:24.96 on the large track at the Dempsey Indoor Facility. The time converts to 12:32.94 on most collegiate indoor tracks.

Running on the relay for the Bearcats were Hannah Swanson (Jr., Seattle, WA/Roosevelt HS), Jewell Sparks (Jr., San Francisco, CA/Lick Wilmerding HS), Maura Forbush (Sr., Hollister, CA/San Benito HS) and Olivia Mancl (Sr./Jr., Seattle, WA/Roosevelt HS).

Willamette's converted time is currently the eight fastest in Division III this season. The top 12 relay teams will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, but there are still several weeks left in the season and Willamette will not be competing again in the distance medley relay. The Bearcats will have to wait and see if their time holds up for a national berth.

The first outdoor track and field meet for the Bearcats this season will be the Willamette Opener on March 4. Action is set to get underway at 9 a.m. (PST) at Charles Bowles Track.
