Duenas Places 7th at Oregon State University High Performance Meet

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Hope Duenas (So., Covina, CA/Covina HS) of Willamette University took seventh place in the women's discus throw at the Oregon State University High Performance Meet on Friday, April 27 at the Whyte Track and Field Center. Three Bearcats -- Keaton Beckmann (Fr., Salem, OR/Sprague HS), Melissa Scott (So., Tustin, CA/Beckman HS), and Jewell Sparks (Sr., San Francisco, CA/Lick Wilmerding HS) -- are set to compete at the prestigious meet on Saturday, April 28.

Duenas registered her top throw of the competition on her second attempt of the prelims, sending the discus 136' 5". That throw was just over one foot longer than her first throw, which went 135' 4".

The top throw so far this season for Duenas is 147' 2" during the Willamette Invitational on March 24. Duenas is ranked 10th on the NCAA Division III performance list this season.

Tomorrow's schedule at the OSU High Performance Meet includes Beckmann in the men's long jump, Scott in the women's 100-meter hurdles and Sparks in the women's 400-meter hurdles. The men's long jump is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. (PDT), with the  women's 100-meter hurdles at 1:33 p.m. and the women's 400-meter hurdles at 3:10 p.m. Each of the hurdle events will feature three heats, with runners competing against time.
