Carlson Chosen NWC Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week after Win in 5,000

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University's Keith Carlson (Sr., Seattle, WA/Ferris HS) has been named Northwest Conference Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week for jis performance in the Willamette Opener on Saturday, March 2 at Charles Bowles Track.

Carlson won the 5,000-meter run with a personal record time of 14:47.91. He lowered his previous-best time by about 19 seconds from 15:06.55 at the North Central College Gregory Final Qualifier on May 16, 2018.

His current time ranks #1 on the NCAA Division III national performance list for 2019. He leads the event by 20 seconds.

Willamette will compete at the Pacific Preview in Forest Grove, Oregon, on Saturday, March 9. Pacific University will by hosting the meet. The Bearcats will return to Charles Bowles Track on Tuesday, March 13 and Wednesday, March 14 for the Willamette vs. Corban Dual. All events will be contested at the track, except for the hammer throw, which will be held at Corban.
