Montague Chosen as NWC Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University runner Michael Montague (Jr., San Diego, CA/Canyon Crest Academy) has been named Northwest Conference Men's Track Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Pacific Preview on Saturday, March 9 in Forest Grove, Oregon. Montague was one of six Bearcats to win an event during the meet.

Montague competed in the 1,500-meter run and took first place in 3:59.35. He broke the four-minute mark in only his second competitive 1,500 for the Bearcats. He won by 4.26 seconds over Dillon Rising of George Fox University, who placed second in 4:03.61. A total of 24 runners competed in the event.

Willamette's track and field teams will be back in action on Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14 when they host the Willamette vs. Corban Dual at Charles Bowles Track. All of the events will be held at the track on Thursday starting at 3:30 p.m. (PDT), except for the hammer throw, which will be contested at Corban University on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
