Swan is Selected as NWC Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Saige Swan (Jr., Crescent City, CA/Del Norte HS) from Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Men's Field Student-Athlete of the Week for his success at the Pacific Preview on Saturday, March 9. Swan won the hammer throw and was third in the shot put.

In the hammer, Swan's winning distance was a personal record of 160' 5".  His top throw improved his top mark by more than 11 feet from 148' 9" at the Willamette Opener on March 2. He has increased his top mark in the hammer by 22' 3" since the start of this season.

Swan earned a top throw of 43' 2.50" to take third place in the shot put on Saturday. He was 8.25 inches out of second place.

The Willamette track and field teams will return to action on Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14 when they host the Willamette vs. Corban Dual at Charles Bowles Track. All events will be held at the track on Thursday starting at 3:30 p.m. (PDT), except for the hammer throw, which will be contested at Corban University on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
