Swan is 4th in Hammer, 6th in Shot Put, Duenas is 5th in Discus, at Linfield Open

McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Willamette University's Saige Swan (Jr., Crescent City, CA/Del Norte HS) placed fourth in the men's hammer throw and was sixth in the men's shot put, while Hope Duenas (Jr., Covina, CA/Covina HS) of Willamette earned fifth place in the women's discus, at the Linfield Open on Saturday, May 4 at Maxwell Field. A total of 26 student-athletes competed in the men's hammer throw and the men's shot put. There were 23 student-athletes in the women's discus.

Swan's top distance in the hammer throw was 148' 0" on his fifth attempt. In the shot put, his best mark was 46' 2" on his third toss of the prelims. Swan missed fifth place by 4.00" and was just 4.75" out of fourth place.Duenas registered a top discus throw of 134' 2" in the finals. She was two inches out of fourth place.

Willamette will host the 2019 Bearcat Invitational Multi on Tuesday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 8 at Charles Bowles Track. The two-day meet will include competition in the heptathlon and the decathlon.
