Kaszycki is 3rd in Discus, Anderson is 3rd in Long Jump, at John Knight Twilight

MONMOUTH, Ore. -- Eric Kaszycki (Jr., Santee, CA/Santana HS) placed third in the men's discus throw and Oliver Anderson (Jr., Salem, OR/Home Schooled) took third place in the men's long jump as the Willamette University track and field teams competed in field events at the John Knight Twilight on Friday, April 8. Samantha Waters (Jr., Kalispell, MT/Flathead HS) finished fourth in the women's hammer throw. The meet was hosted by Western Oregon University at McArthur Field.

Kaszycki's top throw in the discus covered 125' 10". He also placed fourth in the men's hammer throw with a career-best toss of 143' 11" and was fifth in the men's shot put with a personal-best throw of 39' 11.50". His previous top mark in the hammer was 139' 1", set this season at the Lane Community College Open on March 12. His best result in the shot put prior to Friday was 38' 10'5" at the Willamette vs. Corban Dual #21 on April 3, 2021.

Anderson's best attempt in the long jump went 20' 1.75". The winner of the event was Deshaun Stevens, who competed unattached and covered 21' 5.50".

Waters registered a top result of 149' 1" in the women's hammer throw. It was the third time this season that she has earned a distance of over 147'.

Other Top Performances for Willamette

Petey Swan (Fy., Crescent City, CA/Del Norte HS) placed third in the men's high jump at 5'7".

Emma Blackburn (Sr., Los Altos, CA/St. Francis HS) was fifth in the women's triple jump with a combined distance of 31' 10.75" to set her personal record.

Tenley Grant (Fy., Longview, WA/Kelso HS) achieved eighth place in the women's hammer at 130' 7" and was ninth in the women's shot put at 32' 11.75".

Avery Mickelsen (Sr., Ephrata, WA/Ephrata HS) finished ninth in the women's discus with a throw of 108' 0". She tied her personal-best market set at the Willamette vs. Lewis & Clark Dual in 2021.

Kaiona Apio (So., OH, Edmonds, WA/Edmonds-Woodway HS) placed sixth in the women's javelin with a personal record toss of 113' 4".
