Anderson Earns 4th Place in 100-meter Dash at Portland Twilight

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Oliver Anderson (Jr., Salem, OR/Home Schooled) of Willamette University placed fourth in the men's 100-meter dash at the Portland Twilight on Saturday, May 7 at Eldon Fix Track on the campus of Lewis & Clark College. Anderson earned a time of 11.30 seconds.

Anderson was just 0.02 out of third place and 0.15 out of first place. Solo Hines from Whitworth University won the race in 11.15 seconds and Yoosuf Hanafi Bacha from the University of British Columbia finished a close second at 11.17 seconds. Cody Milmine of Eastern Oregon University took third in 11.28 seconds.

Following closely behind Anderson were Riley Beecroft of UBC and Jesaiah Penson-McCoy of Simon Fraser University (Can.) in a tie for fifth place. Beecroft and Penson-McCoy each completed the race in 11.33 seconds. David Njeri of Seattle Pacific University was seventh in 11.35 seconds.

Alex Matteson (Sr., Seattle, WA/Nathan Hale HS) of Willamette took 10th place in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Matteson's time was 9:54.14, as he finished 12.44 seconds out of seventh place and was 18.08 seconds out of fourth place.

Eliason Kabasenche from the University of Portland won the steeplechase in 9:24.34, as he edged out Braden Heath from the College of Idaho, who placed second in 9:25.65.

A select group of Bearcats will represent Willamette University at the North Central College Last Chance Meet, set for Tuesday, April 17 through Thursday, April 19. The Bearcats also are scheduled to compete at the George Fox Final Qualifier on Wednesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 19.
