CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Matthew Nivala (Fy., Salem, OR/West Salem HS) from the Willamette University men's track and field team took seventh place in the 110-meter hurdles at the OSU High Performance on Saturday, April 27. Nivala registered a time of 15.57 seconds, which was just 0.25 out of second place. He finished just 0.19 from his personal record of 15.39, set at the 2024 Northwest Conference Championships.
Also creating results for the Bearcat men's team on Saturday in Corvallis were Myles Crandall (Fy., Monmouth, OR/Central HS) and Liam Bergevin (Fy., Walla Walla, WA/Walla Walla HS).
Crandall competed in the 400-meter dash and placed 13th out of 43 runners in a personal record time of 50.44 seconds. He lowered his time by 0.28 from 50.72 seconds in the prelims at the NWC Championships. Bergevin was entered in the 800-meter run. He was timed at 1:57.92 and placed 38th out of 104 competitors in the event.
The Willamette track and field teams will be in action at the Oregon Twilight on Friday, May 3. The meet will be hosted by the University of Oregon at Hayward Field in Eugene.
