Towry Sets Willamette Career Scoring Record during game at Puget Sound

TACOMA, Wash. -- Kylie Towry (Sr., G, Medford, OR/South Medford HS) hit nothing but net on consecutive foul shots with 5:38 left in the first quarter of Willamette University's game at University of Puget Sound on Friday, Feb. 2 to become the Bearcats' career scoring leader in women's basketball with 1,310 points. She moved in front of Jenny Joseph, who previously held the record with 1,309 points from 1993-94 through 1996-07. Towry scored six points during the game and now has 1,314 points.

Towry entered Friday's game with 1,308 points. Including the game at Puget Sound, she is Willamette's  top scorer this season with 16.7 points per game.

The career scoring record was set by Towry in 104 games played. She also owns Willamette's record for career 3-point baskets with 277. Joseph set the old scoring record in 106 games as an inside threat, while providing Willamette with 569 field goals, which is still an all-time record for the Bearcats. Joseph is also the school record holder for career rebounds (695).

Towry and teammate Ashley Evans (Sr., PG, Canby, OR/Canby HS) are tied for the WU single game record for 3-pointers. Towry hit nine 3-pointers against California Institute of Technology on Nov. 21, 2014. Evans registered nine 3-pointers versus Warner Pacific College on Nov. 15, 2016.
